It is, therefore, crucial that I avoid insect bites as much as possible. I say that, all the while knowing I neglected to get a bee kit this summer. Stupid me!
Because of my little bug problem, I am constantly on the lookout for an insect repellent that really works. Let's face it. Some of them are all talk and no action.
While Off works well, I admit I can't abide the unpleasant smell. This year instead of reaching for the tried and true I risked it all on a new product for me. It is called Cutter Skinsations Ultra Light Insect Repellent.
There is a lot to like about this insect spray starting with its refreshing smell and the fact that it goes on in a smooth, light coverage. Of course none of that would mean a darn thing if it didn't work. Lucky for me, it does.
Although Cutter Skinsations Ultra Light Insect Repellent only claims to repel mosquitoes, I have found that it also works with gnats and chiggers. Truthfully, there is nothing that will keep a wasp or bee away if he's in the mood to sting.
The spray is easy to use. Just remove the top from the spray can. Shake the product up good and then spray. That's all there is to it. For maximum effect, be sure to hold the can about four to six inches away from the skin area to be covered.
There are some precautions to be taken, however. Keep the nozzle pointed away from your eyes while spraying. If some of the spray does inadvertently get into your eyes, rinse them immediately with cold water for about three to five minutes.
If your eyes continue to sting and burn, report to an ER facility as quickly as possible. Take the spray can with you to show your medical professional.
Avoid getting the spray in your ears or mouth. Remove any excess spray by rinsing the affected area immediately. If swallowed in a large amount, contact your local poison control center.
Do not apply this insect repellant to your hands. If you get some on them, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. You don't want to risk transferring the product to food or to the mouth.
Wash any clothing that has been sprayed with this product before wearing it again. That will help avoid any cross-contamination.
Keep the product out of the reach of children and pets. Under no circumstances allow children to use the spray on their own. Do not spray the product on pets without prior veterinary approval.
Use Cutter Skinsations Ultra Light Insect Repellent only once per day unless you take a shower, go for a swim or get your body wet by some other method. Repeated spraying will not increase this product's effectiveness. Once should be enough. If it isn't, then it isn't going to work for you.
Store the can in a cool location out of the light. Do not store it anywhere near heat or expose it to prolonged sunlight. The contents of this spray are highly flammable. It also contains chemicals that could result in severe burns.
Dispose of the empty can according to your city's plan for chemical disposal. Do not puncture or incinerate the container.

Effectiveness: 5 stars. Cutter Skinsations Ultra Light Insect Repellant works as claimed on mosquitoes. It also appears to work with other insects like gnats and chiggers although it does not advertise that ability.
Smell: 5 stars. The smell is light, clean and refreshing. There is no hint of chemical aroma that will make you nauseous or want to take a shower within 10 minutes.
Ease of use: 5 stars. The instructions are clear. However, it is important to read all of the instructions before applying this product. It does have some hazards with which every consumer should be aware.
Packaging: 5 stars. Cutter Skinsations Ultra Light Insect Repellent comes in a white spray can with turquoise trim and orange accent. The Cutter logo is displayed prominently along with the name.
Ease of storage: 5 stars. The can is 7" in height and a little more than 1 ½" in diameter. It is small enough to fit into a medicine cabinet, a beach tote or even a large handbag.
Availability: 5 stars. Cutter Skinsations Ultra Light Insect Repellent should be available wherever insect repellent is sold. That would include some garden shops, drug stores, discount departments stores and grocery markets.
Price: 5 star. I found this spray a bargain at just $5.99. The four ounce can seems to last forever.
Product purchase probability: 5 stars. So far, this is the best spray of its type that I have found. I will definitely be purchasing it again.
